The
last fifty years did see a gradual increase in bonuses and incentives that
companies offered their employees. After all a company literally rests on the
pillars of strength that the employees pose as, especially the managerial
workers. When they are kept happy with bonuses such as paid vacations and
relocation benefits, they stay for years on end in the same firm, remaining
dedicated to it till their retirement.
One
of these benefits that over the recent years has reduced in popularity is the
idea of luring workers with the help of benefits and promised incentives. Today
the workers are not offered the benefits that were offered a few years ago.
However, top level company executives are still a sought after breed, and
companies still compete with each other using incentives to lure the best of
the best to their camp.
One
more of the services reduced in popularity is the idea of relocation benefits
when an employee is ordered a transfer letter. Today a relocation plan fro the
employee may provide the bare minimum of transport charges and a few days off
to settle down in the new city. While some may look at these as hardly an
incentive, others are willing to go through with it simply because they would
have moved even if no incentive was offered to them at all. Generally, the
younger employees desperate for some experience under their belts fall into
this category, while the executive level workers still call their own shots.
One
genre of workers that are still thoroughly spoilt by their employers is that of
state workers. When a government official is ordered a transfer, the state
normally covers his expenses from one end to the other. As they are often
assigned homes, the government takes care of the new lodging for the employee
and his family and often also arranges for a new vehicle for personal use.
It
is only in some of the few well established and top companies that we can today
see relocation services being assigned to workers that are in the non-executive
genres. Technical workers that are large in number often are given a package
deal by the employer when asked to relocate. Generally the young workers are
happy with whatever the company allots for them, as it is uniformly given to
all their colleagues without bias.
